The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SGCCI) has organised a gala dinner party in the honour of chief minister Narendra Modi in Surat on Sunday. The dinner, along with a host of other inaugurations and foundation stone laying ceremonies, were originally slated for October 31, but were deferred after Modi was struck with swine flu.

"The dinner party in honour of CM Modi will be held on November 29. All leading Surat businessmen from textile, diamond, realty and other sectors have been invited for the get-together and party. We are expecting 600 - 650 people to dine with the CM," Nilesh Mandlewala, president of the SGCCI, said.

Besides leading businessmen and industrialists, prominent doctors, advocates, social workers, politicians, top officials of corporates in Hazira, managing committee members and past presidents of the chamber, have also been invited for the party at Riverside Lawn in Taj Gateway Hotel.

During his Surat visit on Sunday, the chief minister is slated to declare open or lay foundation stones of civic projects costing around Rs250 crore.
