MUMBAI: Pharmaceutical major Ranbaxy Laboratories on Monday said it has settled all matters relating to possible patent litigation with GlaxoSmithKline regarding the Sumatriptan Succinate Tablets, used for treating migraine.
Sumatriptan Succinate tablets are the generic version of GlaxoSmithKline's Imitrex Tablets.
The terms of the settlement provide that Ranbaxy may distribute a generic version of Sumatriptan Succinate tablets in multiple strengths of 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg in the US, Ranbaxy informed the BSE.
However, it did not disclose the additional terms of the settlement agreement.
The shares of Ranbaxy were trading in the positive zone in a tumbling equity market. Scrip of Ranbaxy was trading at Rs 390, up 0.87 per cent, on the BSE in morning trade, while the Sensex was down by 1,440 pts by midsession.
The expected launch date is by December this year, the company added.
The annual market sales for Sumatriptan Succinate (Imitrex) were 985 million dollars according to (IMS- MAT September 2007).
