Pune firm forays into crane servicing

Pune-based ElectroMech, a leading industrial crane manufacturer, has started a 100% subsidiary, Cranedge, which will offer post-sales service support and modification of old models of cranes cutting across brands.

The company will be setting up 35 branches across the country with an investment of Rs10 crore to reach out to its potential customers in niche segments.  Speaking about the future plans, Tushar Mehendale, managing director of ElectroMech, said the new firm would be catering not only to ElectroMech customers but also to other crane customers irrespective of their manufacturer.

“Post-sales service for cranes is an area where we find there is ample space in Indian Industry. Service is big business overseas. In India, people are slowly realising the benefits of outsourcing maintenance of their cranes to specialists,” he said.

The company will supply spare parts and offer health checks, annual maintenance contracts, crane overhauling, modifications,  retrofits  and relocation. “The annual crane business is pegged at around Rs2,200 crore. The market has witnessed a steady rise in the last five years. There are around 80,000 old cranes in the country that we could tap with our new business model,” he said.

ElectroMech has made its presence felt in the industry over more than three decades, and has a tie-up with ABUS crane systems, Germany.

Raj Shrivastav, CEO of Cranedge said, “The services we offer would be an advantage for customers as there is hardly any option available for upgradation or even modification of old cranes.”
