MIH buys 2 websites

NEW DELHI: MIH India, the Indian arm of South African media company Naspers, has acquired Bixee.com, a vertical job search site and Pixrat.com, a social picture book marking website, both of which are part of Bangalore-based start-up RHR Networks, founded by former Yahoo! employees.

Refusing to disclose the deal size, Ashish Kashyap, CEO, MIH India, added that the company is looking at closing 3-4 more deals in the next six months. The company, which started operations in the last three months, has only 60 people now and is looking at increasing the headcount to 250 in the next two years.

With big plans afoot, MIH India has already set up a sprawling 40,000 sq ft headquarter in Gurgaon, and is setting up its engineering and research and development centre in Bangalore in a week. It has already hired seven engineers for the purpose. “We will set up our sales and marketing office in Mumbai in the next financial year,” Kashyap added.

MIH India’s primary objective seems to be bottom up building and investing in and acquiring internet companies in the Indian market place. MIH India has already beta-launched its networking, blogging and photo sharing website called Ibibo.com.
