The Gandhinagar district co-operative union, also known as Madhur Dairy, got its new interim managing director (MD). In a general board meeting on Sunday, Rohit Mehta was appointed as the in-charge managing director of the union.
Mehta replaced G Oza as in-charge managing director. While sources say Oza was removed from the post as he did not have the required qualifications, chairman of Madhur dairy, Shankersinh Rana, said Oza stepped down from the post.
Although Oza is removed from the post of in-charge MD, he will continue to work with Madhur Dairy as the general manager, human resource. Mehta said he would continue as an in-charge MD till the time a new MD is appointed. Rana, however, said that the duration of the in-charge MD has not been decided yet.
“We have appointed Rohit Mehta as the in-charge MD as Oza is on a week’s leave. The decision was taken during a meeting on Sunday,” said Rana.
Madhur Dairy has not had an MD for the last two years. Earlier, an official from the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) was sent on deputation as Madhur Dairy MD. A source said Mehta could also be offered the post of MD in the near future. But Rana said Madhur Dairy is planning to start fresh recruitments in the coming days.
“Madhur dairy is running without a full-time MD, but we are planning to give ads to recruit MD some time in January end,” said Rana. The National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will also play a major role in selecting the candidate, he added.
