ShareCHANDIGARH: Utility vehicle manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has launched 'Scorpio Getaway' -- the sports utility version of its flagship Scorpio -- in the country with prices starting at Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
"We have designed it keeping the younger generation and their need for quality Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) product in mind," Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) EVP sales and marketing, Rajesh Jejurikar said.
Explaining the reason for selecting Punjab for launch of the product, he said: "Punjab has advantage of being the richest state in India and the people here are inclined toward such products".
Scorpio Getaway was launched in two versions and is priced at Rs 6.99 lakh for the two-wheel drive at ex-showroom price (Mumbai) and 7.99 lakh for the four-wheel drive version.
Scorpio Getaway is the first product of the company to have been launched globally, with the product already unveiled in Australia and being marketed in South Africa.
"We are looking for exporting it to other countries also and will enter US market in 2009, where the demand for such product is very high," he added.
