Jindal Steel gets conditional ok for Orissa plant

Jindal Steel and Power Ltd has received conditional approval from the environment ministry to build a 6 million tonnes steel plant in eastern Orissa state, it said on Tuesday.

The environment ministry passed the order on Monday, fixing six conditions for the project, according to a ministry document.   

The ministry had in November asked the firm why the project should not be halted over possible environment violations.
