Private air-carrier, Jet Airways, expects to begin the next fiscal (FY 11) with a better first quarter as compared to its year-ago period, a top company official said.

"We expect that the first quarter of the coming fiscal (April-June 2010) will be better than Q1 of the current financial year (FY 10)," Jet Airways' chairman, Naresh Goyal, told reporters on the sidelines of India Aviation 2010 event here today.

The five-day long aviation event which commenced here today is being organized jointly by the Ministry of Aviation and apex industry body, FICCI.

Goyal said that as a part of its plans to strengthen its operations, the private air-carrier intends to consolidate its business on existing routes.

"We will now concentrate on our existing route network to strengthen our operations and also achieve a higher savings," Goyal said.

On a possible fare hike, Goyal said that the matter was under examination and a call on the issue would be taken at an appropriate time.
