Tokyo based Kao Corporation, an FMCG major, is planning a Rs 150 crore investment in Kerala.
   
A high-level delegation from the company, headed by Hiroshi Yamaguchi and Takashi Tanaka visited the state last week and held talks with additional chief secretary, T Balakrishnan, Secretary Industries and Managing Director of Kerala state Industries Corporation (KSIDC), Alkesh Sharma, A KSIDC press release said.

Kao Corporation, a leading manufacturer of FMCG products, especially soaps, detergents, lifestyle and health care products in Asia, plans to set up their manufacturing and marketing facilities in the state.
    
The team visited proposed sites for the project at Kuttippuram in Malappuram and Koratty in Ernakulam. They also visited the facilities of Nitta Gelatin India Limited here, a joint venture of KSIDC and Nitta Gelatin Inc, Japan.
   
The delegation's visit is a follow up to discussions held by Kerala delegation with Kao Corporation at Tokyo in Japan in October 2009, during the visit of Balakrishnan and Sharma to Tokyo and Osaka.

The fact that Kerala holds immense investment potential in food processing, FMCG, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Bio-technology and Nano-technology had been brought to the attention of many Japanese corporates with whom the team had interacted during their visit, the release added.
