An LIC insurance service provider here has launched a unique mobile van service for collecting premiums from his clients helping them to make payments sitting home.

With 30,000 policies to his credit and total business of Rs866 crores till date, Parekh introduced the mobile collection method in May this year after teething troubles.

Five executives and a driver comprises the team entrusted with the job and premium receipts are given on the spot.

"These five executives are equipped with laptops, portable printer and Internet card. It is a virtual a LIC office at the doorstep of clients," Parekh, now 25 years into life insurance business, said.

Armed with 30 staffers, Parekh handles about 5,000 clients. They have been provided with in-house training by trainers through seminars on marketing, sales, stress management, operations, efficiency and information technology.

Payments are accepted in cheque or cash and the mobile van premium collection till date since its launch has touched Rs 8 crores, Parekh claimed.
