Industry captains were quick to condole the demise of Steve Jobs, the iconic Apple founder.

He was “one of the greatest icons of the modern era and his untimely death was a huge loss to all,” Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Group said.

Kris Gopalakrishnan, executive co-chairman of Infosys Ltd, said Jobs was a rare combination of creativity and innovation with an ability to implement challenging projects. “How we interact with the computer — user interface — has been at the forefront of his computing innovation over the last three decades.”

“From the iconic Macs and Pixar’s animation; from creating the iPod, to the iPad, he has driven disruptions across many industries using technology and innovation,” said N Chandrasekaran, CEO & MD, Tata Consultancy Services.

Lakshmi Narayanan, vice chairman of Cognizant, said the tech czar always “challenged conventions and stereotypes, and pushed the envelope of innovation like few others.”
