Honda Siel Cars India announced on Saturday the recall of 8,532 units of the 2nd generation Honda City, manufactured in 2007, for a preventive part replacement of the ‘power window switch’. This recall relates to the potential problem of smoke coming out from this switch if water enters the driver-side window when the window is left open during heavy rains or when the switch is exposed to any other liquid due to spillage.

The recall is being done as part of a global exercise by the parent company. Globally, even the Honda Jazz is being recalled but not in India because the 2nd generation Jazz has been selling here since June 2009.
