The government said on Tuesday it will seek parliamentary approval to spend an extra Rs257.25 billion ($5.5 billion) for the fiscal year to end-March 2010.
The gross additional expenditure would be Rs309.43 billion, of which Rs52.17 billion would be met through savings, the government said.
The government will spend an extra Rs30 billion on fertiliser subsidies and Rs34.6 billion on food subsidies.
The government would also spend Rs8 billion on an equity infusion in state-run carrier Air India.
