Glaxo Smith Kline Consumer Healthcare, an Indian unit of the global drug maker, expects to restart operations at its factory in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday, an official said.

The plant in Andhra Pradesh had stopped production on Friday due to political protests in the state.

"Our people are in discussions with politicians and bureaucrats," Praveen Gupta, director of operations, said over the telephone.

GSK Consumer does not expect any financial hit due to the shutdown, he added.

The plant produces 30 kilo-tonnes of nutritional products, which is 25%-30% of the firm's total capacity for such products, Gupta said.
