Ganeshaspeaks chalks out massive expansion plan

Astrology as a Rs1,000 crore business, call-centres, advice through the Internet and cell-phones—Ganeshaspeaks, an astrology and horoscope company, is aiming for precisely this.

Sensing an immense business opportunity in astrology, Ganeshaspeaks has chalked out a massive expansion plan designed to capatapult it into the number one astro portal in the world.

"We aim to be a Rs1,000 crore company by March 2013," its managing director & CEO, Hemant Arun Pandeet, told PTI here today.

The company plans to spread its wings internationally, explore the internet and telecom astro space, set up call centres and appoint more astrologers as a part of its growth strategy, Pandeet said.

"We aim to be the number one astro portal globally in five years and plans are afoot for a massive ramp-up. We plan to hire more astrologers and are also exploring tie-up possibilities with a host of leading media entities in the world," he said.

In FY 09, the company clocked a revenue of Rs10 crore and expects to grow 25-30% this fiscal. Ganeshaspeaks will enter east India with a call-centre at Orissa soon.

The company currently has four call centre in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune and Bangalore.  Ganeshaspeaks was launched in 2003 with a vision of providing users a personalised horoscope reading by Bejan Daruwalla through the Internet and telephone.

"Sixty per cent of our business comes from telecom services and 40% through the Internet. The Internet service is still growing as a large portion of the population still does not have Internet facilities," he said.
