Copra edible prices increases on robust demand

Copra Rajapur and copra edible prices shot up at the spices market here today on the back of hectic buying from stockists and bulk consumers coupled with strong export demand.

Elsewhere, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode also firmed up owing to good retail as well as millers offtake.

Copra Rajapur Mumbai surged by Rs500 per quintal to Rs9,000 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs8,500 and copra Edible Mumbai rose by Rs200 per quintal to Rs8,200 as compared to Rs8,000 in the previous session.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode also gained Rs50 per quintal each to Rs6,900 and Rs6,800 respectively, as against Rs6,850 and Rs6,750 yesterday.

Meanwhile, other spices closed steady in the absence of necessary buying support.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets: Black pepper (per kg) 305/325 (305/325), ginger bleached(per kg) 175 (175), ginger unbleached (per kg) 205 (205), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,900 (6,850), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,800 (6,750), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,000 (8,500) and copra edible Mumbai(per quintal) 8,200 (8,000).
