The Centre today allocated Rs100 crore for Ladakh region for implementation various of projects identified by a task force.
The special task force for the development of Ladakh, headed by Narendra Jadhav, member, Planning Commission, has submitted a report to the government in January identifying projects that could be implemented in a period two years.
The Jadhav committee report had identified projects worth Rs416 crore. Among the projects recommended include construction of culverts, small bridges and roads connecting remote villages and hamlets in the region.
In the general budget presented today, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee announced Rs100 crore for various projects suggested by the Jadhav committee.
The decision on forming of three task forces was taken at a meeting of the cabinet committee on security headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on September 25 last year.
