Zee net up 7% on strong ad show

Dr Subhash Chandra, chairman, ZEE, said with a stable government at the Centre the Indian economy has shown some signs for optimism and is expected to see a positive growth trajectory.

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), India's leading entertainment company, on Thursday reported a 16.3% growth in consolidated revenue of Rs 1,347 crore for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2015 on the back of strong advertising revenues that rose 15.0% on-year to Rs 669.7 crore.

The consolidated operating profit (Ebitda) for the January-March quarter stood at Rs 270.7 crore while profit after tax (PAT) was up 7.4% to Rs 231.9 crore. Ebitda margin stood at 20.1% while PAT margin was 17.2%.

Dr Subhash Chandra, chairman, ZEE, said with a stable government at the Centre the Indian economy has shown some signs for optimism and is expected to see a positive growth trajectory. "Our performance in this quarter is reflective of the investments we are making to further enhance our market position. We continue to pursue opportunities in existing and new markets that will yield long-term growth. Since, financially we are in a sound position, we are confident that we will benefit from exploring such growth opportunities in the coming year," he said.

For the full fiscal 2015, consolidated revenue stood at Rs 4,883.7 crore and consolidated operating profit was Rs 1,253.7 crore. Profit after tax for the fiscal was Rs 975.5 crore. Ebitda margin stood at 25.7% and PAT margin was 20%.

Punit Goenka, managing director and chief executive officer, ZEE, said that company's performance during this quarter has been satisfactory.

"As expected, advertising spends increased during the quarter backed by consistent performance of our channels. We also witnessed a sustainable growth in our subscription revenues in this period and with the implementation of digitisation in Phase III and IV we expect to see our subscription revenues grow further in the future," he said.

Subscription revenues for the reporting quarter increased 10.2% to Rs 510.8 crore while for the full fiscal 2015 it was Rs 1,793.5 crore. During the quarter, domestic subscription revenues stood at Rs 417.5 crore while it was Rs 1,424. crore for fiscal 2015.
