Microsoft's India-born chief Satya Nadella is making the most of his trip to India. While the CEO is in Mumbai to address a conference on 'Future Decoded', he also added a meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad to his itinary. 

While details of his discussion with Modi are still unknown, the Microsoft chief and Prasad talked about the company's rural digital initiatives along with leveraging the online job platform LinkedIn for creating employment opportunities. 

"Microsoft is doing good work in India. In particular, we have appreciated their initiative for digital inclusion in village, the Harisal pilot project in Maharashtra where they brought in technology and connectivity for digital health and digital education...," Prasad said after the 30-minute meeting. "This is something I am considering for replication in our larger vision for Digi Gaon initiative," he added.

Prasad said that other issues discussed included "LinkedIn's involvement in skilling professionals to be exposed to good job opportunities". The issue of H-1B visas did not figure at the meeting with the India-born CEO of Microsoft, he said. The Minister said Nadella represented a powerful statement of "extraordinary contribution of India's talent" and accomplishments. 

Microsoft's Future Decoded event taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, is expected to see participation of 1,500 business and government officials. This will include names like Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Lord Jonathan Evans (former director general, MI5), Guenter Butschek, CEO, Tata Motors, and Anil Rai Gupta, Chairman and MD of Havells.

The discussions are expected revolve around how digital technology is empowering people and organisations across governments, education, banks, hospitals, e-commerce, entertainment, and manufacturing organisations.
