Water treatment firm VA Tech Wabag wins Rs 594 crore contract in Chennai; shares up over 6% intraday

The company has won the contract for construction, operation and maintenance of 45 MLD Tertiary treatment plant at Koyambedu, Chennai.

Water treatment player VA Tech Wabag has bagged a Rs 594 crore contract to construct and operate a plant in Chennai.

In a BSE filing, VA Tech Wabag said it has "won a Rs 594 crore contract from Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board for construction and operation and maintenance (O&M) for a 45 million litres per day (MLD) Tertiary treatment plant at Koyambedu, Chennai."

It further said, "The value of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) and O&M portion (for a period of 15 years) of the contract is Rs 396 crore and Rs 198 crore, respectively."

On Tuesday, at 1348 hours, the shares of VA Tech Wabag was trading up 6.23% or Rs 27.45 at Rs 468.00 per scrip on the BSE.
