Mining conglomerate Vedanta on Friday said its subsidiary Talwandi Sabo Power (TSPL) has set the Guinness World Record for planting 2,08,751 saplings at a single location in less than an hour.
Guinness World Records acknowledged this achievement by TSPL on December 17, 2015, by presenting a certificate. The mass plantation drive was organised in Mansa (Punjab) on October 30, 2015, Vedanta said in a statement.
TSPL has also set benchmark for environmental compliance by developing 222 acre of green cover (March 2015) around the plant's periphery as well as installing Zero Discharge Unit and Sewage Treatment Plant among other measures, it added.
