Union budget to be presented on Feb 1; Parliament session likely from January 31

The Parliamentary Session for the upcoming Budget will likely start from January 31, an alert from PTI. While the Finance Minister will present the Union Budget statement on February, BTVI said. 

The Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) met on Tuesday at 11 am to finalise the date of the Parliament session and for the presentation of the Union Budget.

According to BTVI Live, the first Parliamentary Budget session will start on January 31 and go on till February 9.

The Economic Survey would be tabled on January 31 while the Union Budget statement would be presented on February 1, BTVI said in a series of tweets quoting news agency Newsrise. 

The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar in attendance. 

The budget session would also be advanced to ensure early allocation of funds under various schemes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said an early budget could ensure availability of funds in time for the beginning of the new fiscal. 

In 2017, the government will also move away from the 92-year-old practice and present the rail and union budget as a single statement of income and expenditure. +
