In Chennai this week, representatives of 15 companies based in Tamil Nadu were given an overview of the tourism opportunities available in Kazakhstan.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India, Bulat Sarsenbayev, made a presentation with the cooperation and assistance of Global Air.

Representatives of other businesses and associations linked with tourism had an opportunity to get information about tourism potential and investment in Kazakhstan.

Ambassador Sarsenbayev made a note of the high dynamics of development of tourism cooperation between India and Kazakhstan.

For example, this year the volume of inbound tourist flow from India to Kazakhstan grew by 35 percent in comparison with the last year. Indian tourists are mainly attracted to cultural and educational rest in cities such as Almaty and Astana.

The Ambassador also made a mention of EXPO-2017 to be held between June and September this year in Kazakhstan capital Astana, and said this is a good reason to reveal the tourist potential of Kazakhstan for Indian tourists.

A mention was also made of the daily flights between Almaty and Delhi by Kazakhstan?s national carrier Air Astana.

He informed that from June this year, plans are on to launch flights between Delhi and Astana, on which the air carrier will provide a free ticket to EXPO-2017.

In general, the frequency of passenger flights between Kazakhstan and India is projected to increase to 24 flights per week.
