market in the national capital during the week under review with prices falling by Rs 50 per quintal on increased supplies by mills amid restricted buying by stockists and bulk consumers.

Marketmen said mounting stocks on relentless supplies from mills against muted demand from stockists as well as bulk consumers in view of approaching month-end, mainly brought down the sweetener prices.

Besides, falling sugar prices in overseas markets on bumper crop in Brazil and a weak trend in the sweetener at domestic futures markets also dampened sentiments, they added.

In the price section, sugar mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices dropped from the last week's closing levels of Rs 3,725-3,810 and Rs 3,715-3,800 to settle at Rs 3,680-3,810 and Rs 3,670-3,800, showing a fall of up to Rs 45 per quintal.

Also, sugar spot M-30 and S-30 prices declined by Rs 20 each to end the week at Rs 4,000-4,100 and Rs 3,990-4,090 per quintal.

In the millgate section, sugar Khatuli, Modinagar, Chandpur, Mawana, Simbholi and Dhampur dropped the most by Rs 50 each to conclude at Rs 3,760, Rs 3,700, Rs 3,680, Rs 3,710, Rs 3,760 and Rs 3,680 per quintal respectively.

Sugar Sakoti slipped by Rs 40 to Rs 3,700, while Dorala, Thanabhavan and Dhanora faded by Rs 30 each to Rs 3,720, Rs 3,715 and Rs 3,720 per quintal.

Likewise, prices of Budhana fell by Rs 25 to Rs 3,720 followed by Asmoli, Anupshaher, Baghpat, Morna, Nazibabad and Ramala by Rs 10 each to Rs 3,780, Rs 3,730, Rs 3,750, Rs 3,740, Rs 3,730 and Rs 3,735 per quintal, respectively.(MORE)
