PSU banks call off planned strike on Monday

Many banks including SBI, Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, among others have already issued advisory informing about the strike call.

Strike call given by a section of public sector banks' officers for Monday has been called off and all the branches of the lenders will function normally.

The strike call was to protest the termination of P V Mohanan, General Secretary of Dhanlaxmi Bank Officers' Organisation.

"As the management of Dhanlaxmi Bank has decided to favourably consider the case of reinstatement of Mohanan, we have decided to defer the strike," All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) General Secretary Havinder Singh told PTI.

Mohanan is also AIBOC, Kerala state President. Dhanlaxmi Bank is an old generation private sector bank based out of Kerala.

Many banks including State Bank of India (SBI), Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank and Andhra Bank have already issued advisory informing about strike call and inconvenience to customers if it materialises.

The bank is taking all necessary steps for a smooth functioning of bank branches on the day of the strike if it materialises, Bank of Baroda said in a statement.
