Rupee down 8 paise against dollar in early trade on Wednesday

Wednesday, 11 June 2014 - 9:43am IST | Agency: PTI

The rupee weakened by eight paise to trade at 59.37 against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market due to increased demand for the American currency from importers.

Forex dealers said the dollar's gain against the euro overseas also put pressure on the rupee.

However, a higher opening at the domestic equity market limited the fall, they added.

The rupee had lost nine paise to close at 59.29 against the dollar on Tuesday on sustained demand for the US currency from importers.
