Rs 200 crore given to Jammu & Kashmir for 79 tourism projects since FY12

The Tourism Ministry has granted over Rs 200 crore for various projects to promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir in the last three financial years, Lok Sabha was informed on Monday.

"During the last three years, the ministry sanctioned Rs 207.21 crore for 79 projects to promote tourism in J-K," Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said in a written reply. In 2014-15, Rs 8.63 crore was sanctioned for six projects in the state while Rs 85.46 crore was extended in 2013-14 for 45 projects.

The assistance was maximum in 2012-13, when Rs 113.11 crore was given for 28 projects. Responding to another query, Sharma said the Tourism Ministry provides central assistance to state governments/ Union Territories under various schemes for the development of tourism infrastructure.
