Royal Enfield records best-ever sales in March at 60,113 units

Eicher Motors-run Royal Enfield sold 60,113 units of motorcycles in March, up 17% from the same period last year, its "best-ever monthly sales".

The company's domestic sales were up 17% at 58,549 units in the month compared to 50,059 units in March last year. Royal Enfield exported 1,564 units of its motorcycles, up 24% from 1,261 units last year. 

Commenting on the sales figures, Rudratej Singh, President Royal Enfield, said, "Royal Enfield has recorded is best-ever monthly sales in the month of March 2017 selling 60,113 motorcycles in India and international markets combined posting a growth of 17% over same period last year. We have also recorded a 31% growth in our YTD sales with the highest ever sales of 6,66,490 motorcycles in FY17."

Royal Enfield said because of its aggressive sales, it had managed to clear its entire BS III stock and would sell only BS IV compliant motorcycles from April 1, as is the norm. 

"Owing to our strong order book, we have cleared all BS III inventory in due time. Our customers will be receiving BS IV compliant motorcycles from April 1, 2017," Singh said.
