IT industry stalwarts are all praise for Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella.
“It is a matter of great pride. A home-grown techie is now heading one of the largest organisations in the world. It tells us what is possible,” said Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chairman, Biocon.
Subroto Bagchi, chairman, Mindtree, said it is a great moment for India. “Of course, Satya is to be celebrated as a global technology citizen, not just as an Indian. We will all learn from Satya as he steers a great company that is at a crossroads, to its rightful place in history. I think he brings quiet credibility and a great leadership style,” remarks Bagchi.
Vineet Nayyar, former CEO of HCL Technologies, said Nadella is a great choice as the CEO. “Microsoft is quite literally the capital of the IT world and with Satya Nadella taking over its top seat, we have much to celebrate as a country and industry. He has a bold vision, a disarming charm, a mind wired for innovation and, most importantly, faith in people power. He faces exciting times ahead and I’m sure he will turn the challenges at MS into new and bold opportunities for growth”
Mohandas Pai, chairman, Manipal Global Education, said it is a great day for Manipal and the technology industry in the country. “It is good to see someone’s hard work paying off and he getting recognised for his work. The fact that he is an India-born CEO makes us all proud.”
