Move to tap corporate, SME customers

Leading telecom player Reliance Communications on Monday launched a free national roaming offer for its post-paid and pre-paid GSM customers.

Under this plan, there will be no difference between local, STD and roaming charges, and customers will be charged only their home plan tariffs even while roaming anywhere in India.

"We are delighted to launch the One India, One Rate plans in the country, which abolish differentiated tariffs for roaming, STD and local calls in India. When business has no boundaries, then tariffs should also be seamless and customer-friendly—thus, incoming calls while roaming will now be free on the RCom network" Gurdeep Singh, chief executive officer, consumer business, Reliance Communications Ltd, said.

"As India's youngest pan-India GSM operator, we are committed to improving the quality of our customer mix, and the One India, One Rate plans will help us attract customers in the high-value corporate and SME roaming segments. It will help us break down the tariff barriers and extend unprecedented benefits to our roaming customers," he added.

While for post-paid users the plans have a rent of Rs 350 and Rs 599, pre-paid users will have to get a recharge done of Rs 45.

Under Rs 350 plan, users will get 700 minutes of free outgoing calls (roaming, STD, local) while the Rs599 plan would offer 1,200 free minutes. These would also have 1GB and 2GB data with it respectively.

In Post-Paid One India, One Rate 599 plan, after the free minutes are used up, customers will enjoy flat outgoing rate of 30 paisa per min for calls to anywhere in the country, while on the One India, One Rate 350 plan, a flat rate of 40 paise per minute will apply after free minutes are used up.
