Solar farm maker RaysExperts has commissioned projects that contributed an additional 30 mw to Rays Solar Parks at Kolayat in Bikaner during January and March.

"Around 99 per cent of solar EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) companies in India have a total individual portfolio of less than 30 mw which Rays Experts, in a rare feat of sorts, achieved in just 3 months," the company said in a statement.

According to the statement, all the projects of the 30 mw capacity were commissioned before March 31, 2017, which enabled the developers to reap maximum accelerated depreciation benefits and 100 per cent tax gains in the first year itself.

These plants will eventually replace more than 1,200 million coal-based electricity units with clean and green power in its lifetime.

Rahul Gupta, CEO, RaysExperts, said, "The challenges we were able to overcome pertained to the scarcity of skilled labour in such a remote area, heavy dust storms, sandy and loose soil land surface, lack of Internet and other basic amenities. We believe this will restore the falling confidence regarding solar among customers."

The capacity is formed by aggregating multiple owners across the country.

The plant is located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, one of the highest solar radiation zones in India.

The global horizontal irradiance (GHI) is 5.8 kwh/day.

Major nationalised banks have provided support for financing these projects, including SBI, Kotak Mahindra and HDFC bank, to name a few, it said.

RaysExperts is a solar solutions provider and one of the largest solar power EPC and development companies. From concept to commissioning, the company offers services across every level of solar power project development.
