Railways earned this from September 9 to October 31 after this scheme was introduced in Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains.

Railways has made an additional earning of Rs 56 crore during September 9-October 31 after introduction of flexi-fare system in Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains, Rajya Sabha was informed on Friday.
The flexi-fare scheme was introduced in premier train services on September 9, Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain said in a written reply. Under the scheme, the fare increases by 10% with every 10% of berths sold subject to maximum prescribed limit 1.5 times in Sleeper, 2AC, AC Chair Car and 1.4 times in 3AC class.
No change has been made in the fare for 1st AC and Executive Class of travel. There were 5,871 vacant berths in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto trains during September 9-October 31 as against 12,428 for the same period last year.
