At separate meetings with them, Mistry evinced interest in various areas for exploring investment opportunities, according to official statements issued by the states.
During his meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Mistry discussed the possibilities of investing in Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) and other projects.
Gehlot invited the Tata Group to invest in basic Infrastructure, Solar Energy, Tourism and Iron ore sectors.
At the separate meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Mistry said the Tata group will look at investment possibilities in the state.
"A team of experts of the company would soon visit to explore the possibilities and potential for setting up of new ventures in the state," Mistry was quoted as saying in a government release here.
He said the group will also seek help from the state government to strengthen the company's existing infrastructure in Punjab, it said.
At his meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Mistry offered to help the government in its ambitious project to construct two lakh houses for the poor.
Hooda apprised him that providing affordable housing to is one of the major priorities of his government.
Mistry also showed interest in extending cooperation in areas of fertiliser and agriculture.
Meanwhile, the release from Punjab said: "The Chief Minister (Badal) offered them (Tata Group) to initiate certain joint ventures in IT, Skill Training, Agriculture and Infrastructure with the state government." Accompanied by Madhu Khana, the Group Head - Business Development of Tata Sons Ltd - Mistry had a detailed meeting with Badal on the investment prospects in the state.
Badal informed Mistry that the state has contributed enormously in various areas such as foodgrain production, industry and, above all, the armed forces for the security as well as development of the country.
Badal said, "...owing to the growth oriented policies of the state government, today Punjab was one of the most preferred investment destinations of the country." He talked about the "unprecedented infrastructure development" being carried out by the SAD-BJP government.
Badal said his government has planned projects worth "thousands of crores" for ensuring 100 per cent water supply and sewerage facilities to the people in the state.
He sought a "helping hand" from the Tata group in terms of modern technology and expertise to accomplish the task.
Mistry said there is a dire need for skills development and the team from his group will study all the aspects in this area to set up a Training and Development Centre in Punjab.
It will aim at strengthening skilled workforce for industrial as well as the agriculture sector in collaboration with the state government.
Mistry, according to the release, agreed to the proposal mooted by Badal to explore undertaking the project related to the database information for improving the agriculture sector of Punjab.
As for developing housing for the poor in Haryana, the scheme, 'Priyadarshini Awaas Yojna', aims at setting up the project to deliver houses in rural areas under the Indira Awaas Yojna.
It also aims to cover other poor families including those who have been allotted 100 sq yard plots, and have no house or have a kutcha house, by providing them financial assistance.
Initially, two lakh families are to be covered in the project span of two years that is financial years 2013-14 and 2014-15.
Hooda also informed Mistry about the significant achievements made by Haryana in various fields of development and the future projects.
All the meetings were attended by top state officials.
