Publicis Worldwide, the leading creative agency, announced on Friday the hiring of three leading lights from the ad world – Ambika Srivastava, Partha Sinha and Bobby Pawar.

Srivastava is a big name in media agencies having spearheaded Vivaki Exchange and Zenith Optimedia for many years. Since April, she has been managing partner with consulting firm Strategic Mediaworks. Srivastava is already on board as director, marketing and new business, India.

Sinha is a founding-member and managing partner of the Publicis-owned agency BBH India. While he was rumoured to have been wanting to exit the agency, a desire to work with close friend Pawar and the challenge of the assignment saw him accept the offer.

Sinha is due to join in September as director, chief strategy officer South Asia.

Pawar, it may recalled, was forced to leave JWT India as managing partner and chief creative officer after the controversial Ford Figo advertisements. Widely acclaimed as having made DDB Mudra a creative powerhouse, he joins as director, chief creative officer – South Asia.

He will be on board later this month (June) and will represent the agency at the Cannes Lions advertising festival (starting June 16).

“India is central to the future success of our key clients and indeed to our own success.

We are committed to making the required investments in this critical market, whether organic or through acquisitions. Following the recent acquisitions of iStrat and Marketgate, these hires confirm our ambitions to invest in top talent. I have no doubt that the new team will help meet our aspirations and those of our clients,” said Jean-Yves Naouri, chief operating officer, Publicis Groupe, and executive chairman, Publicis Worldwide.

Naouri also said that Sanjay Sharma will move into the lead planning role at BBH, a function that would need to be looked at given Sinha’s exit. While BBH is fully owned by Publicis Groupe, in India, as in the rest of the world, the agency leads an independent existence.

The Publicis Groupe had targeted a doubling in size by 2015, and with these talent acquisitions, the attempt is to achieve it sooner.
