Police hope to find out more about Dutta by interrogating his family member

A relative of Indrajit Dutta, one member of a family of three who hanged themselves at their residence in Navi Mumbai's Kamothe, has been traced to Madhya Pradesh (MP). Dutta's family member will arrive in the city on Tuesday, said an officer of Kamothe police station. The bodies were discovered by the domestic help on Sunday when she opened the flat.

Police hope to find out more about Dutta by interrogating his family member. The 50-year-old Dutta, who claimed to be an engineer, was allegedly unemployed for seven years. Police recovered a number of liquor bottles from the residence, pointing to the fact that Dutta was an alcoholic.

"Fear of being shunted out of their rented home due to the financial crunch, coupled with health issues, pushed Dr Patel over the edge," an officer said. PS Bhatuse, Police Sub Inspector of Kamothe police station said, "The family was unable to pay rent for the clinic, and the apartment." They owed Rs 2 lakh in rent dues.
