Medicine manufacturer Pfizer will shut its manufacturing plant in Thane effective from September 16 this year, the company's spokesperson said in a statement today.

Pfizer has decided to shut the plant after long term assessment that revealed that it was no longer viable to achieve the production levels expected. The plant has been practically inactive since 2013; there has been no manufacturing activity at the plant, the company said. The closure will not impact the supply of any of our medicines to patients, the spokesperson added.
