Otis Elevators has entered into an agreement with infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for supply of elevators and escalators to the L&T metro rail project in Hyderabad.

Otis will deploy heavy-duty elevators and escalators sourced from its factories in China under the deal estimated at Rs 400 crore.

While the products would be fabricated and supplied by Guangzhou Otis Elevator Co and Otis Elevator (China) Co, the installation works would be handled by Otis Elevators Co (India).

It has a compact machine that eliminates the need for a machine room,” an Otis spokesperson said.

The system also consists of Pulse belt monitoring system which electronically monitors the status of the belt 24/7, 365 days a year, the official said, adding ReGen drives reduce energy usage by up to 75% compared to conventional drives.
