An online National Career Service Project is being implemented to provide employment service and career counselling among others, the government said on Wednesday.

"The portal is accessible to both employers as well as job seekers. Employers can register and post their vacancies and shortlist the candidates whilst job seekers can register online for seeking employment related assistance," Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha.

The NCS portal has a rich career content repository with information on career options available in more than 52 industry sectors and 3,700 occupations, he said.

To a specific query by AIADMK MP A Arunmozhithevan whether manual scavenging has been listed as career option, the Minister said, "Manual scavenging is not a career option on the portal."

The NCS can be availed directly through employment exchanges, career centres and common service centres, he said.
