One lakh bank accounts opened in Sikkim under PMJDY

Over one lakh households in Sikkim have opened bank accounts under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY).

The Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, which has received a tremendous response in the state, now stands at a stunning 98.50%.

The banks, in this small mountainous state with a meagre population of little over six lakhs, have been successful not only in opening new accounts but also in mobilising handsome balance in the accounts that
were opened. 

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) is a national mission for financial inclusion to ensure access to financial services, namely, Banking/ Savings and Deposit Accounts, Remittance, Credit, Insurance, Pension in an affordable manner.
