The drivers of ride-sharing app Ola and Uber are planning to go on a one-day strike on Tuesday (today) to protest against low wages and long working hours.

However, a last minute Delhi High Court order may limit the disruption caused by the protest.

About 1-5 lakh Ola and Uber drivers announced they would go on a strike again, after the ten-day protest in February followed by meetings with the management of the two app-based taxi service companies, failed to yield the desired results for the drivers. The strike is likely to start in the Delhi-NCR region.

According to a report by The Hindustan Times on Monday, as many as 12 taxi unions have pledged to keep their vehicles off the road and switch off the Ola and Uber rides to make sure customers aren't able to book rides.

However, a report by The Times of India on Tuesday said that the Delhi HC, "passed a decree of permanent injunction against the two unions prohibiting them from interfering in the smooth running of these cabs." The order may serve to limit the disruption caused by the drivers pledging to stay off the streets and also promising a protest.

The unions have been ordered again confiscating mobile devices from the taxis, and from staging a protest 500 metres from the offices of Ola and Uber.

The drivers are planning a protest market from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines from Manju ka Tila.
