The Volkswagen Jetta has just received a midlife upgrade.

Volkswagen India’s executive sedan, namely the Jetta, has received a midlife upgrade and now comes with a host of new features that make this car even more desirable! Changes to the exterior include new Xenon headlamps with headlamp washers, LED daytime running lights, dual zone air conditioning with climate control and new 16 inch alloys.
Step inside the car and you will find a series of changes there as well. These include the 12 way electronically adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 split folding rear seat, a high end in car entertainment system as well as a new digital instrument panel with a multi- function display.
The upgraded Jetta also gets cruise control and paddle shifters on the variants fitted with the DSG gearbox.
As far as engine choice is concerned, the Jetta continues to be offered with the tried and tested 2 litre diesel unit and the 1.4 TSI petrol unit. The 2.0 litre TDI diesel is capable of churning out 140 hp and a stellar 320Nm of torque while the 1.4 litre TSI petrol makes a rather decent 122 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque.
While you can opt for a manual gearbox on both engines, Volkswagen is only offering the diesel model with the automatic six speed DSG gearbox. As far as mileage is concerned, the Jetta returns an ARAI tested 14.69 kmpl on the petrol variant, 19.33kmpl on the diesel manual variant and 16.96 kmpl on the diesel automatic variant. No doubt the figures will be lower in real world conditions, but they are still impressive and suiting to a car of this class. As far as safety is concerned, the Jetta comes fitted with ABS, ESP and six airbags. The new Volkswagen Jetta range is priced from Rs 13.70 lakh to Rs 19.43 lakh, ex-showroom New Delhi.
