Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved has been making headlines since the time of its inception especially its noodle brands but the brand has come under the scanner of Food Security officials yet again.

According to a news daily, officials of the Food Safety and Drug Administration department of Lucknow came across a two 1-kg package of Aawla Murabba that is manufactured by Patanjali Ayurved which mentioned the date of manufacturing the products as October 20, 2016 while its expiry date has been mentioned as October 19, 2017.

The product has already reached the market shelves in Lucknow's retail store. The FSDA officials told the new daily that since the product is an ayurvedic medicine, hence it does not qualify as a food product. The officials have collected the samples from five different shops of the city to ascertain the quality of the food products.

The sealed sample of the murabba is being sent to the laboratory for testing and information has been sent to the director of ayurvedic services in Uttarakhand.

According to the daily, Dr Shiv Kumar Verma, drug inspector (headquarter), directorate of Ayurveda, UP said, "Furnishing wrong information about the product ultra vires the provisions of the Drug & Cosmetic Act."
