After pulses, mustard oil has taken the hit. According to a TOI report, mustard oil prices have gone up over 30% from last year, due to dismal oil seed production on the back of adverse weather conditions in various parts of the country.

The report says that the price of mustard oil has gone up by Rs 27 per litre in Kolkata.

On an average, the price of mustard oil has gone up by Rs 10, from Rs 90 to Rs 100 in October compared to the same period last year.

Going ahead, however, prices are likely to ease. The Mustard Research Promotion Consortium (MRPC) has said that this year, output will be higher by 1.5-2 million tonnes as mustard seed growing areas witnessed good rains and lower temperatures in the last few days has increased the moisture in the soil for the rabi season.
