Mukesh Ambani's net worth beats that of 14 Indian states, union territories

You know you're wealthy in a country of 29 states and seven union territories when your net worth beats the annual gross domestic product (GDP) of nearly half of them. Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani's net worth at $23.1 billion (around Rs 1,54,572 crore) beats the annual GDP of 14 Indian states and union territories, reported Business Today.

Following the 59 year-old industrialist is Sun Pharma founder Dilip Shangvi whose net worth of $15.8 billion (around Rs 1,05,724 crore) surpasses that of 13 Indian states which includes Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Azim Premji and Laxmi Mittal's net worth too beats a few states like Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

Forbes India recently named Ambani as the richest Indian for the ninth consecutive time whose fortune is equal to that of Estonia's GDP.
