MobiKwik, StoreKing tie up to bring cashless payments to rural areas

The companies will bring cashless and cardless payments to 10,000 retail stores across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesn, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Goa.

M-commerce firm MobiKwik has entered into a partnership with StoreKing to expand its cashless and cardless payment facility to 10,000 retail stores in small towns and villages in southern states of the country.

The facility will be available in 600 small towns and 5,000 villages across the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Goa, MobiKwik said in a statement.

StoreKing is an assisted e-commerce platform that partners with a network of kirana stores located in rural areas.

This partnership aims to bring the convenience and success of e-commerce model to rural India and is significant in enabling financial inclusion, the company said adding that it will benefit 10 million rural users who will now be able to make payments via the MobiKwik mobile wallet.

Further, the retail stores will be trained to help rural users to download the MobiKwik mobile app and add cash to it to buy goods.

Both the companies, MobiKwik and StoreKing will also provide free Wi-Fi connections at these stores.
