Ministry of Home Affairs gets Rs 62,124.52 crore in budget, a 10.2% jump

Home Ministry was on Friday allocated Rs 62,124.52 crore in the Union Budget, a modest 10.2% jump over the outlay in last fiscal, with special focus on safety of women, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits and internal security.

Presenting the Budget, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the NDA government was committed for safety and security of women.

"In order to support programmes for women security, advocacy and awareness, I have decided to provide another Rs 1,000 crore to the Nirbhaya Fund," Jaitley said in his Budget speech.

The Home Ministry was given Rs 56,372.45 crore in the general Budget 2014-15.

Rs 580 crore has been allocated in the budget for relief and rehabilitation of Jammu and Kashmir migrants against Rs 342.50 crore allocated for the purpose in last fiscal.

The BSF, which guards the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangla borders, has been given Rs 12,517.82 crore against Rs 11,717.46 crore in last fiscal.

The ITBP, which protects the Sino-Indian border, has been allocated Rs 3,736.47 crore. In the last fiscal, the force was given Rs 3,404.93 crore.

The CISF, which guards country's most of the airports, industrial infrastructure, atomic stations, Delhi Metro besides others, has been given Rs 5,196.65 crore. In 2014-15, the force was given Rs 4,937.91 crore.
