Merck shares climb over 6% on strong Q4 show

Shares of drug firm Merck on Thursday soared over 6% after the company reported a 76.42% increase in net profit for the quarter ended March 31. After opening on a positive note, the stock rose 5.86% to Rs 1,140 as the session progressed on BSE.

At NSE, shares of the company surged 6.31% to Rs 1,141.40.

Merck had reported a 76.42% increase in net profit at Rs 14.82 crore for the quarter ended March 31 on Wednesday.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 8.40 crore during the January-March period a year-ago, Merck Ltd said in a BSE filing.

Its total income from operations also rose 9.91% to Rs 236.92 crore during the quarter under review as against Rs 215.54 crore in the year-ago period.
