Meet the four young brand ambassadors of Digital India

These ambassadors are appointed for a year and their services will be used for mass awareness programmes as and when required.

The government has reportedly named four brand ambassadors for the Digital India initiative.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 1, 2015, the Digital India initiative was started with a view to empower the people of the country digitally. The initiative also aims to bridge India's digital segment and bring big investments in the technology sector. 

The four brand ambassadors according to a release by the Department of Telecom are Satvat Jagwani, Krati Tiwari, Ankit Fadia and Pranav Mistry.

These ambassadors are appointed for a year and their services will be used for mass awareness programmes as and when required.

Let us go through the profile of the four brand ambassadors.

1. Satvat Jagwani: Satvat Jagwani is the All India IIT-JEE Advanced Topper of the year 2015.

According to a The Hindustan Times report, Satvak attributed his success to his parents who are doctors by profession.

As per the report, physics and mathematics are his favourite subjects. 


2. Krati Tiwari: Krati Tiwari is Advanced Girl Topper of All India IIT-JEE. Hailing from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Krati emerged as the topper among 3,049 girls who cracked the exam. 

According to a IBN Live report, Krati used to travel 35 kms to Indore daily from Mhow. She successfully cleared the test in her first attempt securing the 47th rank. Dainik Bhaskar reported Krati saying that she felt like quitting because of her hectic schedule but stuck on to her IIT dream and worked hard to achieve it. 


3. Ankit Fadia: Popularly known as the 'Ethical Hacker', Ankit Fadia was also named as one of the brand ambassadors of Digital India by the government. 

Ankit Fadia has authored 16 books and currently conducts lectures on ethical hacking. He has lectured in almost all major colleges and universities. He also starred in an MTV show 'What The Hack' and has a YouTube show 'Geek On the Loose' where he shares technology tips and tricks. 

Fadia, while speaking to dna, explained his three-fold roles and responsibilities for Digital India.

“Firstly, to promote the components of the initiative on social media and on personal media. Secondly, to participate in any Digital India event when I am asked to,” he said, adding.

“Thirdly, sometime provide with inputs on digital projects when asked to.”

Ankit Fadia studied in Delhi Public School in RK Puram in New Delhi. At a very young age he started a website hackingtruths.box.sk where he used to write tutorials which in turn encouraged him to write a book. His book was based on ethical hacking which was published by Macmillan India. 

The announcement about Fadia was particularly derided on social media, with many dismissing his various claims. While he had claimed that he hacked tech magazine Chip's website when he was 13, journalist Charles Assisi denied those claims.

At the time of writing his Wikipedia profile read: "Ankit Fadia (born 24 May 1985[1] is an Indian charlatan, author, speaker and self-proclaimed ethical hacker. His work mostly involves OS based tips and tricks, Proxy websites and lifestyle." 

His claims have been questioned, his website hacked numerous times and he was awarded with the "Security Charlatan of the Year" award at DEF CON 20 -- one of the world's oldest hacker conventions.


4. Pranav Mistry: A Computer Scientist and author of SixthSense, Pranav Mistry is currently the Global Vice President of Research at Samsung, USA. He has worked with Microsoft, Google, CMU, NASA, UNESCO, Japan Science and Technology before joining Samsung. 

He is also known for his work on Samsung Galaxy Gear and Project Beyond. In 2013, he was honoured as one of the Young Global Leader for the year 2013 by World Economic Forum. 

He completed his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Nirma Institute of Technology in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. 

His inventions are many such as Mouseless, which is an invisible computer mouse, Quickies which are intelligent sticky notes that can be searched and located and can be used to send reminders and messages. He has even invented a pen that can draw in 3D. 

His SixthSense was felicitated with the Invention Award by Popular Science in 2009.
