Soon you can ride into the future on a Harley Davidson bike. The iconic brand in the macho bike segment is starting bookings in India, including Bangalore, from today.

To begin with, Harley Davidson Motorcycle Company’s Indian subsidiary Harley Davidson India will launch 12 models from five of its motorcycle families–Sportster, Dyna, Softail, V-Rod, CVO and Touring.

These would be available through five of its dealers across the country in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Hyderabad and would have a price tag ranging from Rs6.95 lakh to Rs34.95 lakh.

Srinivas Reddy, owner of Tusker Harley Davidson—the legendary motorcycle’s only dealer in Bangalore—said the bookings would begin from 9.30am today (Tuesday).

“We have been flooded with enquiries ever since we announced the launch of the bike a month ago. Going by that, I am expecting a huge response,” he says.

But even if you manage to beat other bike enthusiasts in the race to book the motorcycle that will polish your ‘bad boy’ or ‘rebel’ image, it wouldn’t be before August-end that you will actually own it. Reddy says his showroom would open only by August-end on Lavelle Rd. “It is under construction,” he said.

The Ride Day, when prospective buyers can test ride the bike, will begin in the third week of May. Srinivas said since most Indian bike buyers are aware of the specification of Harley Davidson models and are clear about which one to go for he expects many final bookings to happen before the Ride Day. “Since only a limited number of bikes have been allotted for India and we are following the first-come-first-serve policy. I expect all Harley Davidson bikes to be sold out before the Ride Day,” he said.
