Low-cost carrier Air Pegasus that started its operations in India in April has said that it would launch its Madurai-Bengaluru flight today.

A 66-seat capacity ATR 72-500 has joined the fleet, and was slated to take off from Bangalore at 10:40 am today and reach Madurai by noon. On the return path, the plane will leave Madurai at 12:30 pm and reach Bangalore at 1:50 pm. For now, the Bangalore-Madurai flight will operate on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays only. It might be converted into a daily flight depending on the demand and success.

Since its launch three months ago, this is already the fourth city that the airline company has set up shop. So far, Air Pegasus had a base in Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, Hubballi in Karnataka and Cudappah in Andhra Pradesh. However, so far it has restricted its wingspan to South India only. It has 78% occupancy for Thiruvananthapuram, Hubballi and Cudappah flights, Ashwin Thomas, director of Air Pegasus has said.

The flight will be launched at an introductory price of Rs 1,234 for six months, he added.

The company will slowly scale up its services to connect Kochi, Belgaum, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Vizag and Puducherry.
